Canterino is working his way back from August 2022 Tommy John surgery. A 2019 second-round draft pick, he was a rising pitching prospect when last on the mound as he posted a 1.83 ERA with a 13.2 K/9 in 34.1 innings at Double-A. He'll likely begin the season at Double-A and be on a limited pitch count in the spring as he works his way back to full speed. 2022 Fantasy Outlook
Canterino was sidelined last May with a right elbow strain. He returned in August but was soon shut down with the same injury. A second-round draft choice of the Twins in 2019 following a prolific three-year college career at Rice, Canterino leaned on a mid-90s fastball and two plus off-speed offerings to generate excellent results in his first taste of full-season ball in 2021. Between stops at Low-A Fort Myers and High-A Cedar Rapids, the 24-year-old right-hander struck out 45 batters over 23 innings and held opposing hitters to a .125 average. If healthy this spring, he could quickly move up to Double-A.
