2016 Fantasy Outlook
A 6-foot-5 southpaw with a thick frame and a mid-to-low 90s fastball, Lugo offers a lot to like in a starting pitching prospect. He has a 3.84 FIP and 265 strikeouts in 252 innings at Low-A and High-A over the past two seasons, and while his strikeouts dipped while his walks ticked up (119:52 K:BB) in 125.2 innings at High-A last season, it should still be considered a successful step up the organizational ladder for the 21-year-old. As a big pitcher, it should not be a big shock that Lugo struggled a little with his command last year, and he remains one of the more projectable starters in the Indians farm system. His ERA has always been at least a touch higher in full season ball than his fielding independent numbers, so it will be interesting to see if he can buck that trend in the pitcher-friendly ballpark at Double-A Akron in 2016.
