Ramon Torres

Torres continued his rise through the minor league ranks in 2016, earning a call to Triple-A during the season, where he slashed .259/.295/.327 in 315 plate appearances following 185 plate appearances with Double-A Northwest Arkansas where he slashed .275/.338/.402. One statistic to note is Torres' strikeout rate. Torres has a knack for making contact. He posted Double-A strikeout rates of 10.7 percent and 9.7 percent in the last two seasons, though he did strikeout more with his jump to Triple-A, going down on strikes 19.4 percent of the time while adjusting to the higher level. He doesn't really stand out in any other statistical category, as he posted just three home runs, 29 RBI and 21 steals combined in 500 at-bats between Double-A and Triple-A. Despite this, 2017 appears to be a realistic target for Torres to make his arrival in Kansas City at some point, where he could provide infield depth off the bench. He splits time between the two middle infield spots, playing 45 games at second base and 67 at shortstop in 2016.
