Darnell Sweeney

The Phillies acquired Sweeney as part of the return from the Dodgers in the Chase Utley deal last August. He was called up immediately after the trade and saw most of his time in left field and at second base. He showed an excellent eye at the plate, but whiffed an unsightly 27.6% of the time. Sweeney does have good pop, but strikeouts have been an issue for him throughout most of his time in the minors. He should get a chance to compete for a bench job this spring, but a more likely scenario would have him back in the minors to start the year. His primary path to playing time this season may be at second base if Cesar Hernandez fails to impress.
