Week 9 Primer
Because it's Memorial Day weekend, we're going to keep this barebones and lay out the schedules and FAAB moves, dispensing with the commentary and preamble this week.
Week 9 Noteworthy Schedules
There are no dreaded five-game schedules this week, and in fact, every team is playing Monday for Memorial Day. To that end, make sure to set your lineups early - there are a ton of day games.
The following teams play seven games this week: Angels, Braves, Diamondbacks, Orioles, Red Sox, Reds, Tigers, Astros, Royals, Dodgers, Twins, Mets, A's, Phillies, Pirates, Mariners, Giants, Cardinals, Rangers and Blue Jays. One takeaway from all of this is that the marginal playing time guys have a lot less value this week, as your opponents are getting a lot more bites out of the apple for counting stats.
Here are the interleague matchups, with the home team listed first.
- Braves-Red Sox (Mon-Thur) - Atlanta hosts the first two games, then they go to Boston for two. Will the slumping Red Sox dare bench David Ortiz for two games in Atlanta?
- White Sox-Padres (Fri-Sun) - Carlos Quentin gets to be the DH for three days, unless he's too banged up to begin with.
- Indians-Rockies (Fri-Sun) - With Michael Cuddyer back the Rockies have a big logjam in the outfield, but that will be alleviated for three days.
- Brewers-Orioles (Mon-Wed) - The O's will have to play Nelson Cruz in the outfield all three games without the DH

- Brewers-Orioles (Mon-Wed) - The O's will have to play Nelson Cruz in the outfield all three games without the DH available. Chris Davis is on paternity leave for Monday's game.
- Cardinals-Yankees (Mon-Wed) - The Yankees will feel the crunch in the outfield for three days, even with Carlos Beltran on the DL.
- Nats-Rangers (Fri-Sun) - The Rangers finish off their 11-game road trip in DC, and will work without the DH against Strasburg, Fister and Roark.
For more on the pitching matchups, please check out our indispensable Projected Starters Grid. I use that frequently to aid my free agent bidding and my lineups, both for two-start starters and for matchups. And then refer to Paul Sporer's excellent Pitcher Value Meter to settle any ties in your starting pitching matchups.
FREE AGENT RESULTS
In this section I'll try to list as many of the free agent results as I can from my Sunday deadline leagues. Due to time constraints, the commentary will frequently be short.
