Whee Kim

Kim has been on the PGA Tour for three seasons and he hasn't shown much upside. Last season was his best to date, but even in a season where he set an earnings high, he really only played well twice. Kim got off to a decent start in the fall, but it was a runner-up at the Fed Ex that made his season. Through three seasons though, Kim has made just one more cut (38) than he's missed (37). It's reasonable to think that Kim will continue to progress this season, but at his current rate, he's not going to improve enough to warrant a salary cap selection.

Kim finished T3 at the John Deere and T6 at the RBC Heritage last season but those were his only top-25 finishes in 27 PGA Tour starts. So, he headed to the Web.com Finals to earn his card where he finished T9 in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship to ice it. The 24-year-old South Korean improved his driving distance by 13 yards to 301.1 and has the talent to contend, as he showed last season. More consistency - 13 missed cuts — would go a long way.

Kim, a 22-year old South Korean who turned pro in 2010, had a spotty Web.com Tour season. He came out of the gate fast with a T8 in his first start of the season in South America, but soon started to play inconsistently, mixing mid-level finishes with missed cuts. His only regular season top-10 came at the Cleveland Open in June, and needed a third place finish at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship to seal his card. A short hitter who averaged just 288.1 yards off the tee this season and was just 31st in the All-Around Ranking, Kim will need to be accurate off the tee and hit a lot of greens (think Zach Johnson) to succeed on the PGA Tour. He’s got the talent to do it – in 2012 he led for two rounds at the PGA Tour Qualifying School and beat Kevin Na in a playoff at the Shinhan Donghae Open, an event which featured Paul Casey and Charlie Wi coming up just short of the playoff – so fantasy owners will want to keep tabs on him early and often.
