2023 Fantasy Outlook
Brown barely saw the floor during his rookie campaign, spending the majority of his time in the G League. He played just six games in the NBA before undergoing surgery to repair a tibia stress fracture. Although the Pacers have signed him to another two-way deal, it is hard to see where his playing time comes from. Having added Jarace Walker, Obi Toppin and Bruce Brown during the offseason, the frontcourt is decidedly more crowded than it was 12 months ago. This does not bode well for Brown's short-term value, making him a target in dynasty formats only. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Brown was born on May 11, 2003, in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He came on to the scene as a sophomore at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota, averaging 17.6 points and leading the team to its first state tournament appearance. After the season, he transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas. Brown was teammates with top recruit Kennedy Chandler. As a senior, he helped his team reach the GEICO Nationals title game. He was named to the McDonald's All-American Game, Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit rosters. Brown was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the best small forwards in the 2021 class. On July 20, 2020, he committed to playing college basketball for Baylor over offers from Kansas and Arizona, among others. He became the highest-ranked recruit to come to Baylor since Isaiah Austin in 2012. Prior to his freshman season, Brown was voted Preseason Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year. He lived up to expectations, averaging 9.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. At the end of the season, he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. On March 30, 2022, Brown declared for the 2022 NBA draft, forgoing his remaining college eligibility. Brown was selected with the 48th overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. On June 23, 2022, the Timberwolves traded his draft rights to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for cash considerations and a 2026 second-round pick.

Not progressing as a shooter
FIndiana Pacers
December 13, 2023
Brown is averaging 17.1 points on 49.3 percent shooting through 10 G League contests this season, but he's connecting on just 26.1 percent of 4.6 threes per game.
ANALYSIS
Brown primarily operates in an off-ball role, spending 71.5 percent of his possessions as a spot-up shooter, cutter or running in transition -- which makes his struggles to space the floor a hiccup in his development. The second-year Baylor product is a plus-athlete with 3-and-D upside, but his catch-and-shoot production has been subpar. Even on 25 unguarded attempts this season, Brown has hit just 24.0 percent of his threes. He's proving to be an extremely capable two-way player in the G League, but his NBA prospectus is dependent on an improved jumper.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Brown signed a two-way deal after being selected by the Pacers with the No. 48 pick in the 2022 Draft. Brown is a highly athletic player and a great defender across multiple positions. The 6-foot-8 freshman averaged 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 34 games with Baylor this past season. He also drilled 34.1 percent of his threes -- albeit on limited attempts -- and shot 58.4 percent overall from the field. However, Brown's primary appeal is his athleticism, and the Pacers view him as a longer-term developmental project.
