FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Mike Clevinger, CLE vs LAA ($8,500) – There's a few good mid-ranged options out there tonight with Jameson Taillon in San Francisco, Charlie Morton facing the Phillies and Jhoulys Chacin at home. Clevinger gets the nod though considering he's now scored 43, 40, 46 and 46 points over his last four starts. Cleveland plays as a pitcher's park and the Angels, outside of that Mike Trout guy, are nothing to be worried about. The Angels on the road against right-handed pitching have the second worst wOBA in the league with a .291 mark, barely better than the Royals' league worst mark of .290. Everyone occasionally has a bad start but Clevinger, at home in a great matchup, is too good to pass up.

Catcher

Brian McCann, HOU at PHI ($2,500)Nick Pivetta is a good pitcher to target, especially considering his 5.58 ERA. The Phillies' ballpark plays favorably to hitters from both sides of the plate and while McCann has a better wOBA against lefties this season (.349 vs .320), he has a career mark of .349 against right-handed pitching.

First Base

Danny Valencia, SEA vs BOS ($3,200) – Valencia has a career .378 wOBA against southpaws, but at age 32 that mark has actually gone up to .391. Tonight he will face that handedness in Drew Pomeranz, who has given up worse numbers to right-handed hitters than lefties. Valencia at this price will be a nice contrarian play in GPPs.

Second Base

Brandon Drury, ARI vs ATL ($2,300) – Drury has been in a little bit of a slump since the All-Star break but his .279 batting average says he should come around sooner rather than later. He was given the night off Monday and should resume his spot in the lineup in a solid matchup against Mike Foltynewicz, who has given up 12 home runs on the road this season. Plus, it's a great hitters park in Arizona.

Shortstop

Paul DeJong, STL vs COL ($2,800) – At this point it's tough to imagine DeJong isn't going to be the starter going forward considering he's solid defensively and has been killing it at the plate. He has at least 9.2 fantasy points in six of his last eight games and six home runs in his last 14 games. Jon Gray has actually struggled more on the road than at home this season with a 9.00 ERA and a .405 wOBA.

Third Base

Freddie Freeman, ATL at ARI ($3,600) – It's still a little odd to see Freeman as a 3B but that allows him and another stud at 1B to be in your lineup. He's hitting .328 on the season and has a crazy .481 wOBA against right-handed pitching. It just so happens that Taijuan Walker has his worst splits at home and against left-handed hitters, giving up a .396 wOBA.

Outfield

Matt Joyce, OAK at TOR ($3,000) – Toronto is a good hitter's park (especially when the roof is open) and Joyce gets to face the lowest priced pitcher on tonight's slate of games. Cesar Valdez likely won't pitch more than four or five innings, allowing Joyce to get into the bullpen. Joyce has always hit better against right-handed pitching and should sit near the top of the batting order tonight.

Clint Frazier, NYY vs CIN ($2,600) – Given his price there's no reason to jump off the Frazier bandwagon. He's averaging just under 11 fantasy points per game and has doubles in three straight games, hitting safely in seven of his last eight. He'll be in the hitter-friendly confines of Yankees Stadium tonight and has a good matchup against rookie righty Luis Castillo, who is giving up a road .345 wOBA in a small sample.

Bradley Zimmer, CLE vs LAA ($2,500) – Zimmer was a popular choice in cash games last night and probably will be again tonight. He was put in the leadoff spot last night and responded with a single, double, two RBI and a run scored for 19.2 fantasy points. He'll likely be in the same spot tonight against Jesse Chavez, who has a 6.10 ERA on the road as well as a .379 wOBA.
