FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jacob deGrom, NYM at SD ($11,000) – deGrom is coming off a bizarre start where he allowed just one run in seven innings, but only recorded three strikeouts. With that said, he entered that game on a roll and it might be a case where he didn't have his best stuff. On the bright side, he pitched well overall and picked up the win, which he should do against the Padres, who continue to rank among the worst hitting teams in the majors.

Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs MN ($3,100) – Yes, the Twins are giving Bartolo Colon another start, and no, I don't know why, but it doesn't really matter — just stack the Dodgers and figure out the rest. The Dodgers don't come cheap, however, so Grandal at just over $3,000 should fit nicely into the stack.

First Base

Cody Bellinger, LAD vs MN ($3,600) – Bellinger's price is a bit higher than Grandal's, but it's still low enough to fit nicely into any stack. Bellinger leads the Dodgers with a .409 wOBA against righties this season. Bellinger's home run Sunday came off a lefty, but he's done most of his damage this season against righties.

Second Base

Jonathan Schoop, BAL at TAM ($3,700) – With the exception of a quality outing against the Cubs, Rays starter Blake Snell has been awful over his past five starts. Schoop is quietly becoming one of the best second basemen in the league, and one reason why is his performance against lefties. Schoop enters with a .396 wOBA against southpaws this season.

Shortstop

Marwin Gonzalez, HOU at PHI ($3,700)Vince Velasquez pitched well in his first start since returning from the DL, but he still carries a 5.14 ERA and he's facing the best lineup in baseball, so I wouldn't get too excited about his prospects just yet. I mentioned last week that it's much easier to find a spot for Gonzalez now that he's listed as a shortstop, and luckily, he hasn't disappointed since the move. Gonzalez enters with a .429 wOBA against righties this season, which is good for 7th in the majors.

Third Base

Ryon Healy, OAK at TOR ($2,600) – The A's sat Healy on Saturday and Sunday as a precaution for a head injury he suffered Friday, but he should be back in the lineup Monday. Healy will likely be campaigning hard to get back in there as he's fared well against lefties this season, and the A's are scheduled to face Francisco Liriano. Healy leads the A's with a .437 wOBA against lefties.

Outfield

Tommy Pham, STL vs COL ($3,700) – It's been a tale of two seasons for Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela. He pitched well to open the season, but struggled heading into the break, so much so that he was relegated to the bullpen. Phase three of his season got off to a dubious start when he surrendered three runs in just five innings to the Padres. The Cardinals should have plenty of success against Senzatela, and Pham should lead the way as he enters with a .380 wOBA against righties this season.

Ian Happ, CHC vs CHW ($3,000) – The Cubs are turning into quite the tournament team because their salaries as a whole have come down as the season has progressed, yet they have as much upside as ever. Happ and the Cubs have a lot of upside with their matchup against Miguel Gonzalez, who enters with a 4.98 ERA. Happ enters with a .356 wOBA against righties this season.

Delino Deshields Jr., TEX vs MIA ($2,500) – This looks like a good spot for Deshields, as he normally starts and leads off against lefties and the Rangers face struggling lefty Adam Conley. Conley enters with a 6.75 ERA and is in a tough spot, facing a team that is much better at home than on the road.
