Rodgers spent most of 2016 posting solid numbers over 22 starts for Triple-A Fresno, holding an improved 7.91 K/9 up from 6.93 in 2015. Those numbers didn't translate when Rodgers made his big league debut, as he was shelled for 14 runs over 8.1 innings. Rodgers is a righty with below-average stuff, relying on finesse and an array of five different pitches to get outs. His lack of strikeout stuff certainly limits potential fantasy value. The Astros signed veteran starter Charlie Morton in the offseason, pushing Rodgers further down the pecking order for starts. He'll have to compete with Joe Musgrove and Brad Peacock should Morton or one of the Astros' other starters falter, and would be a long shot to get looks over those two hurlers.
